Little Adams Peak

Little Adams Peak whether considering the word ‘Little’,it is named after the sacred Adams Peak (Sri Pada –where the footprint of Lord Buddha is preserved) regarding the similarity between the two mountains. Therefore the mountain was called Little Adams Peak. “Punchi Sri Pada” is another name for this peak. It is 1141 m in height. Little Adam’s Peak attracts many travellers who come to Sri Lanka. Gradually with an easy hike up to the mountain of Little Adams Peak, you can consummation a worth panoramic view. You have to walk through lush green tea plantations, waterfalls and paddy fields while enjoying the sceneries. It will be priceless if you could visit the place in the morning when the clouds roll in. Further places like Little Adams Peak deliberates ‘How far Sri Lanka is worth and rich with beautiful natural destinations of Sri Lankan tourism’. Ella Rock

If you love living green, then Ella is obviously a place to visit. Ella Rock is one of the place which proves it. Trekkers would love the place. It’s bit tiring to do the hiking. But it is definitely worth it. Once you got to the summit you will realize why we said so. The panoramic views it provides with mist and cloud covering the area, especially in the early mornings and the late evenings are something you should witness and that would suffice enough to say that you visited Ella.

Ravana Ella Falls

Ravana Falls is another must visit in Ella. Hill Country of Sri Lanka is quite popular for beautiful waterfalls and Ravana Falls is right at the top. The falls are quite impressive, and you can climb over some of the rocks to get a closer look. If you love water and wanna have some splash time, enjoying some hours in the waterfall, then this is the place in Ella. You can spend some time swimming This waterfall measures approximately 25 m (82 ft) in high and cascade from an oval-shaped concave rock outcrop. The falls have been named after the legendary character Ravana, which is connected to the famous Indian epic, the Ramayana.

Ravana Cave

The Ravana Cave has located about 2 km from the Ella town and 11 km (7 mi) away from Bandarawela. It is quite a small cave, measuring about 50ft wide, 150ft long and 60ft high. History says that the cave is used by King Rawana to hide Princess Sita. The cave lies 1,370 m (4,490 ft) above sea level on the foundation of a cliff and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Sri Lanka with historical value. If you like to explore historical places in Sri Lanka and admire the Ravana History, then this is definitely a place to visit.

Nine Arch Bridge

Train tours in the highlands of Sri Lanka, is rated as one of the best train tours in the world.And of course, the majestic Nine Arch Bridge is one of the many reasons for that. The glorious Nine Arch Bridge between Ella and Demodara station is one of the engineering marvels in the early 20th century.This bridge, which is almost 100 years old, has been built with blocks of stone and cement without any strengthening iron or concrete. The giant arches take the bridge on a curved path to link to mountains. The Bridge was commissioned in 1921 under the British Government.

Demodara Railway Station

Popularly known as ‘Demodara loop’, the spiral railway is recognised as one of the most fascinating colonial railway civil engineering marvels in Sri Lanka. Lots of people miss this as they have to go to Demodara to see the loop (10 min drive from Ella). There is a reason why it is awarded ‘Certificate of Excellence’ in TripAdvisor. We highly recommend, on your way to Nine Arch Bridge, pay a visit to Demodara too (a rail walk).

Addison Bungalow

If you are staying in Ella for more than a day or two and visiting Haputale, do not miss this monastery which is a highly recommended tourist attraction in the area. A 4km drive from Haputale will lead you to Adisham, a monastery run by Benedictine Monks. Wrapped in the tran quillity of the misty hills, Addison Bungalow attracts every eye that falls on it. The pages of history reveal that the creator of this enthralling place is Sir Thomas Lister Villiers in 1931.

Lipton Seat

The name Lipton’s Seat says it all. It is a famous viewpoint 1970m above sea level. This precise spot in the Haputale Mountains overlooking the Dambetenna Tea Estate is where Sir Thomas Lipton used to sit and contemplate his plantation with its stony landscape and green tea bushes. On good weather conditions, you will witness some incredible panoramic views you would ever find in the hill-country.

Dambatenne Tea Factory

Story is connected with the famous Lipton Seat viewpoint as it was built by same person, the Scottish tea baron Sir Thomas Lipton in 1890. Currently well known as Lipton tea manufacturers. The factory is set 11km outside of Haputale, with buses running every half hour to Dambatenne. There are no direct rail or bus links to the factory, so your best bet is to get to local bus over to Dambatenne and walk from there.
